Consent Form Information
Because the placenta is made from human tissue, it cannot be said that there is no risk of infection from pathogen invasion.
To date, there have been no reports of infectious diseases either in Japan or overseas that have been transmitted by drugs that use human placenta, including Laennec. However, the risk of transmission, such as a mutant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD), cannot be completely ruled out. Thus, anyone who receives Laennec will not be allowed to donate blood through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
With this in mind, we ask that all patients who wish to receive placenta injections at Ueno International Clinic carefully review and understand the explanation that is given and sign a consent form.
